About Nanobag
Nanobag is a reusable-bag brand run by TipTop Things Limited from the Bayfield Building on Hennessy Road in Wanchai, Hong Kong. Ursus Negenborn and Rune Kippervik created it as a pocket-sized alternative to single-use plastic carrier bags, and the online store charges UK shoppers in pounds and US shoppers in dollars.
What Nanobag sells
- Standard and XL shopping totes in black, navy, burgundy and grey
- The Micro, the smallest bag in the range, also sold in Mocha and Grove colourways
- A crossbody Sling for everyday carry
- A foldaway Daypack backpack for travel and errands
According to Nanobag, its fabric is a custom diamond ripstop woven from very fine nylon threads, roughly 0.05 mm thick. The brand gives each bag a weight of about 22 to 30 grams and a load rating of 30 kg, and adds that double-stitched piping and bartacks reinforce the stress points. Nanobag also states that its water-repellent finish is free of PFCs, that the bags are made in China and that one tree is planted through Eden People + Planet for every bag sold.
Delivery and returns
A single bag cost £4.95 for standard UK delivery in a test checkout, and standard delivery becomes free once an order includes three bags. Nanobag's FAQ puts UK delivery at 2 to 4 days with Evri or Royal Mail and promises a tracking number in the confirmation email. The shipping list covers more than 50 countries, among them the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and most of the European Union.
Unused bags can go back within 30 days of purchase if they are in their original packaging with the barcode attached, and proof of purchase is needed. A site banner talks of free returns, but the refund policy makes the buyer pay return postage, which is not refunded, and asks for items to be sent to the Hong Kong office or a local fulfilment partner. Defective or damaged bags are replaced.
Caring for a Nanobag
The brand recommends hand washing in mild detergent and hanging the bag to dry, and warns against fabric softener, bleach, ironing, dry cleaning and tumble drying.
Sustainability at Nanobag
Nanobag says it plants one tree with Eden People + Planet for every bag sold and uses PFC-free water-repellent coatings.
