Time Limited cover pays for each condition for a set period, usually 12 months after treatment starts. Cover can also stop once a maximum amount has been paid out. Maximum Benefit policies set a fixed sum for each condition, and that sum can be claimed over any length of time. Households with several animals can put them on one Multi-pet policy.
Policies pay towards vet treatment after accidents and illnesses. Cat and dog policies can also include cremation costs and the purchase price if the pet dies from an accident or injury. Pre-existing conditions are not covered.

Customer service is open Monday to Saturday, and the 24/7 Argos Vet Assistance helpline gives advice at any hour. According to Argos, 97% of claims are settled within five working days. Premiums can be paid by Direct Debit, Visa or Mastercard. Every policy comes with a 14-day cooling-off period.
