NRLA
The NRLA, or National Residential Landlords Association, is a membership body for private landlords in England and Wales. It formed in 2020 when the RLA and NLA merged, and now has more than 110,000 members. Membership suits anyone letting property, from portfolio owners to accidental landlords with one home, who wants advice and paperwork on tap.
About NRLA
What members get
The core benefits are practical. There is a telephone advice line, an unlimited library of tenancy documents and guides, and help with licensing, energy efficiency and tax questions. Members also get free Tax Investigation insurance and access to Portfolio, the association's own property management software. Training courses, events, a property magazine and legislative news keep landlords up to date.
Campaigning and wider perks
The NRLA lobbies government on behalf of landlords. It also owns Safe2, a property safety certification firm. Members get reduced rates on training, Safe2 certificates, TradePoint purchases, tenant referencing and mortgage broker fees. They also join a community of fellow landlords to learn from.
Joining and support
Membership is digital, with instant access to the online resources and helplines. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or Direct Debit. There is a 14-day cooling-off period, after which fees are not refundable. Support is available by live chat, email and WhatsApp. The association is headquartered in Manchester, and regional engagement offices across England add a local presence.
