AirHelp

AirHelp pursues compensation for air passengers whose flights were badly delayed, cancelled at short notice or caused a missed connection. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Berlin, it runs a UK site for British travellers. Claims are filed online, and nothing is charged unless the claim succeeds. Payouts can reach £520 per passenger, depending on the flight and the rules that apply.

About AirHelp

When a claim may succeed

AirHelp looks at three main situations. One is a delay longer than three hours. Another is a cancellation made with under 14 days' notice. The third is a missed connection that leaves you more than three hours behind schedule at the end of the journey. Claims are assessed under EU261 and other passenger rights rules.

What happens after you submit

You enter the trip details online and AirHelp takes over the contact with the airline. If the airline refuses, it can take the case further, including legal action. Progress shows on a personal dashboard, with updates by email. LiveChat is open 24/7, and email support is also available. Compensation is paid into your account once recovered.

Fees and membership

No win, no fee: lose the case and you owe nothing. A successful claim carries a fee, so check the current rate before you start. AirHelp+ is a membership tier that keeps the full payout and adds lounge access during delays, plus flight and luggage cover. Students with an ESNcard can get a discount on it.
