Maqo Hotels
Maqo Hotels is a lifestyle hotel brand that Wharf Hotels launched in 2023. Its first property, Maqo Changsha in China, has 286 rooms and suites and leans heavily on art and design. Travellers from the UK can book stays directly on the brand's website. It suits guests who would rather have galleries, live music and shared workspaces than a standard business hotel.

About Maqo Hotels
What staying there is like
Maqo treats its hotels as places to linger, not just sleep. Interiors are bold, with art installations throughout. The Creative Hub mixes gallery space with co-working desks, which helps anyone working on the road. Restaurants serve from breakfast through to dinner, and evenings often bring live music and performances.
Booking and loyalty
Rooms are booked online, and confirmation arrives by email. Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal. Cancellation rules differ by hotel and booking, so read the terms on yours before paying.
Maqo belongs to the Global Hotel Alliance DISCOVERY programme. Members get member rates, earn DISCOVERY Dollars on each stay and can tap into local experiences at partner hotels in the alliance.
Good to know
At present the brand has a single hotel, in Changsha, and its operations focus on Asia. Anyone hoping for a Maqo in Britain will not find one yet. For a trip to that part of China, though, it offers a design-led base with plenty going on after dark.
