Charbonnel et Walker

Charbonnel et Walker has been a London chocolatier since 1875 and describes itself as Britain's first luxury chocolatier. It holds a Royal Warrant and is famous for pink Marc de Champagne truffles. The chocolates are handmade in Tunbridge Wells and the boxes are tied with satin ribbon, which makes the brand a natural pick for gifts.

About Charbonnel et Walker

Truffles, thins and gift boxes

The pink Marc de Champagne truffles are the most famous line. The wider range includes dark chocolate made from fine couverture, milk and white chocolates, and newer creations such as Pistachio Thins. Seasonal pieces include the Bond Street 1875 Advent Calendar. Boxes suit Christmas, Mother's Day, Eid, birthdays and anniversaries, and gift wrapping can be added.

How it began

The business was started with encouragement from Edward VII, then Prince of Wales. Madame Charbonnel brought chocolate-making skills from Paris, while Mrs Walker made the gift boxes. That pairing of fine chocolate and careful presentation still shapes the brand.
