Wirsching 2023 Iphöfer Kronsberg Silvaner Alte Reben Premier Cru dry

A powerful Silvaner with flavours of wild herbs, as well as subtle fruity notes of pear and apple. Its enormous density and length give this wine a complex structure. The Iphöfer Kronsberg, where the grapes for thhis Silvaner were grown, is one of the top Franconian vineyards. It is south facing, yet cooler due to the air currents from the eastern forests. The Kronsberg wines are characterised by fine fruit flavours, harmony and elegance. The vineyard has soil rich in Keuper - a sedimentary rock interspersed with gypsum. The Keuper gives this wine its power and full body, like the opulent marshy landscape in which the rock was formed. The older the vines, the better this co-called "terroir" can be tasted - subtle fruity notes, a spicy, herbal aroma and a strong, mineralic flavour that lingers.
