"Hold the glass to your nose: gunpowder and roses. War and love. Almost Nebbiolo-like. Finer than Sankt Paul. Quite stunning, in fact. Velvet and iron. Rust and cranberries, Pomegranate and spices. This is a powerhouse of beauty. A colosseum – elliptical, carved from stone, magnificent, intimidating, awesome, immovable. As full of light as it is of shadow."Tasted by Tamlyn Currin, wine writer for Jancis Robinson18/20 Wine: An intense and dense ruby red Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). This dry red wine has wonderful aromas of blackberry, cherry, pipe tobacco, vanilla and bittersweet chocolate. It has strong tannins, and is punchy yet elegant. Flattering in the mouth, this Grand Cru offers endless play and elegant reverberation. It also has great aging potential. Vineyard: The vineyard is situated in Weißenburg, whcih 9n the Franconion wine-making region. The south-facing vineyard has VDP.Großes Gewächs (Grand Cru) classification. The soil is is rich in limestone with a layer of clayey loam top soil. Vinification:The grapes were carefully selected by hand, de-stemmed and fermented on the mash. After three weeks of fermentation in open oak vats, they were gently pressed. The wine matured for 18 months in small oak barrels. The wine was then bottled without filtration. Alcohol: 13,5% vol. Res. sugar: 0,5g/l Acidity: 7,8g/l
