Java Whiskers
Java Whiskers runs two rescue cat cafés in London, in Marylebone and at Westfield White City. Visitors book a slot, order a coffee or a 'catuccino' and spend time with cats and kittens that are all looking for homes. The concept started in Stockholm and opened in London in October 2020. It suits cat lovers, friends after a different kind of outing and would-be adopters.

About Java Whiskers
What a visit involves
You book a time online, then settle into a calm space where the resident cats roam and play as they like. Drinks include coffee, tea and the house catuccino, with snacks and light meals on the menu. Java Whiskers also hosts kitten lounges, which it says are the only ones in Europe.
Rules worth knowing
Guest numbers are capped to keep things quiet for the animals, so booking ahead is the safer option. Lounges have age restrictions, and visitors are asked to leave their own pets at home. Every cat is a rescue, and hundreds have been adopted since the cafés opened.
Paying and gifts
Gift cards make an easy present for a cat-loving friend. Students, NHS and Blue Light workers and military personnel can ask about discounts, and students get a weekday discount at the White City café. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal, and the team answers questions by email. The cafés hold a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Award, a useful sign of how visitors rate them.
