Costa

Costa is the coffee chain behind more than 2,700 UK stores, along with Costa Express self-serve machines. Its menu covers handcrafted coffee, tea, iced drinks and hot chocolate, plus sandwiches, toasties and cakes. Brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa started it in London in 1971, and The Coca-Cola Company has owned it since 2019. Its head office is in High Wycombe.

About Costa

On the menu

Coffee is built on the Mocha Italia blend, a mix of Arabica and Robusta beans. Classics include espresso, latte, cappuccino and mocha, with seasonal specials appearing through the year. Non-coffee choices include teas, fruit coolers and hot chocolate. For food, expect breakfast and lunch options such as wraps, toasties and sandwiches, then muffins, pastries and cakes for something sweet.

Ordering and paying

Costa is mainly a walk-in café chain, but click and collect is available. Delivery is handled by Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats, depending on the branch. Stores take cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Costa gift cards. If an order is not right, speak to the team in store or contact customer services.

Rewards and greener habits

The free Costa Club scheme gives one bean per drink, and ten beans earn a free drink. Bring a reusable cup and you collect double beans. Costa has set a Net Zero target for 2040. Its UK company-owned stores have run on renewable electricity since 2017. Takeaway cups are made from plant-based materials and can be recycled at any Costa.

Sustainability at Costa

Costa is committed to reaching Net Zero by 2040. All UK company-owned stores use 100% renewable electricity since 2017. Their takeaway cups are made from 100% plant-based materials and can be recycled at any Costa store. Costa founded the UK National Cup Recycling Scheme and has helped recycle over 190 million cups.

Costa FAQs

Can I get Costa delivered to my home?

Yes, at participating locations. Orders go through Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats, so availability depends on your nearest store.

Where do Costa gift cards work?

They work in Costa stores in England, Scotland and Wales. Costa Express machines don't accept them, and nor do stores in Northern Ireland, so bear that in mind when buying one as a present.

Who owns Costa Coffee?

The Coca-Cola Company has owned Costa since 2019. The chain began in London in 1971 and now has its head office in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Is the Costa Club free?

Yes. Joining costs nothing, and you earn a bean with each drink. Ten beans gets you a free drink, and using a reusable cup doubles what you earn.
