The Foam People makes foam mattresses, toppers and pillows in its own West Yorkshire factory, including made-to-measure pieces for vehicles. Caravan, campervan, motorhome and truck-cab owners can order a mattress cut to their layout. Home buyers can pick memory, cooling or firm foam instead. It has traded since 2021 under The Sleep People Limited, an Ossett firm that is family-owned, and every UK order ships free.

Mattresses for vans, caravans and cabs
For a touring caravan, campervan or motorhome, the buyer picks the nearest bed shape and foam online. Staff then make contact within 1 working day to check the measurements before anything is cut. Static caravans and truck cabs get their own mattresses, and there are truck toppers as well. Finished sizes can vary by up to 20mm in length or width.
For the bedroom
The home range comes in memory foam, CoolMax cooling foam and firm foam, split into Core, Comfort and Superior tiers. There are kids' mattresses, memory foam toppers, pillows, replacement covers and straps that keep a topper in place. Each mattress has a 1-year warranty. It turns up vacuum-packed and rolled in a box, and needs a day or two in an airy room to reach full depth. The About page says over 75 staff make and pack everything at the Ossett site.
Delivery and returns at a glance
Delivery is free on everything to UK addresses, and the shipping list also covers Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. Standard products are made and sent within 2 to 3 days. Bespoke orders take up to 12 working days once the plan is signed off. Couriers aim for 2 working days and give a 2-hour slot. Old mattresses aren't taken away, so check what the local council offers.
Return requests go by email within 30 days. The item has to be unused, never slept on and still in its packaging, and the buyer covers return postage. Disliking the firmness doesn't count as a reason. Made-to-measure pieces are only returnable when they arrive damaged or faulty, or when the cut doesn't match the agreed size.

Its shipping list covers the UK, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. Free delivery is advertised for UK orders, and no other destinations appear on the list.
How does The Foam People make sure a custom caravan mattress fits?
Staff contact the buyer within 1 working day of ordering to agree the plan and measurements. The foam is cut to that agreed plan, allowing for a variation of up to 20mm on length and width.
Can a mattress from The Foam People go back if it feels too firm?
No. Firmness preference isn't accepted as a return reason. Anything else needs a return request within 30 days, and the item must be unused, never slept on and in its original wrapping.

How long does a new mattress from The Foam People take to expand?
