Start with what you need to protect. Paper and documents call for fire protection. For cash and valuables, the key figure is a safe's certified cash rating, which insurers use to set cover limits. On SafeFort, cash ratings run from £2,000 or less to more than £60,000. Its guides cover the Sold Secure scheme and Eurograde certification to EN 1143-1. Brands include Burton, Phoenix, Firesec, Chubbsafes, Master Lock, Eurovault and ASEC.
Delivery and fitting
Deliveries arrive on weekdays between 9am and 6pm, normally within three to five working days. Units under 30kg come by courier or Parcelforce. Heavier safes arrive by specialist courier or pallet and are left at the kerbside. Carrying one to the room where it will sit costs extra. Expect possible surcharges for Northern Ireland, the Highlands and the islands. Certified installers can bolt a safe down to meet usual insurance conditions, normally within one to two weeks. Standard rates cover ground floors only.
Returns
A 30-day returns policy runs alongside your statutory 14-day right to cancel. Goods must be unused and complete with keys, manuals, accessories and original packaging. You pay the return cost unless the item is faulty or wrong, and made-to-order or special-order safes are excluded.
