Description Cerazette – a progestogen-only pill (POP), commonly referred to as the mini pill. Ideal for women seeking a contraceptive option without oestrogen, Cerazette offers a reliable solution. It's particularly suitable for women over 35, and/or who smoke and cannot take combined contraceptive pills. Description Directions Take one pill at the same time each day, with no breaks to prevent pregnancy. You take the packs back-to-back without a break, including during your period. Many women won’t have their period at all while on Cerazette – this is normal and should not cause concern. Directions Warnings Talk to your doctor before using Cerazette, if: • you have ever had breast cancer • you have liver cancer • you have ever had a thrombosis • you have diabetes • you live with epilepsy • you have tuberculosis • you have high blood pressure • you have, or have had chloasma (yellowish-brown pigmentation patches on the skin, particularly of the face); if so, avoid too much exposure to the sun or ultraviolet radiation+Y3 Warnings Ingredients The active substance is: desogestrel (75 microgram) The other ingredients are: colloidal anhydrous silica, all-rac-α-tocopherol, maize starch, povidone, stearic acid, hypromellose, macrogol 400, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), lactose monohydrate Ingredients FAQs Is there a best contraceptive pill? There isn't a "best" contraceptive pill as different pills suit different individuals. Each pill contains varying hormones and quantities, so finding the right one may require some trial and error under a doctor's guidance. Can the pill make me bleed between periods? Bleeding between periods is a possible side effect of some contraceptive pills, especially the mini pill. Although typically temporary and harmless, if bleeding persists or becomes concerning, consult your doctor to rule out other causes. I didn’t get my period while taking the pill. Am I pregnant? The pill is highly effective, with over 99% success when taken correctly. Missing a period doesn't necessarily indicate pregnancy, as some pills, particularly the mini pill, can alter or stop menstrual cycles. If unsure take a pregnancy test. Can I switch to a different pill? If your current pill isn't suitable, there are numerous alternatives available. However, consult your doctor before switching to ensure a safe transition. Does the pill cause weight gain? While weight gain is occasionally reported, there's no clinical evidence directly linking the pill to it. However, hormonal changes can influence water retention and appetite. How long will it take to get pregnant after taking the pill? The contraceptive pill has no long-term impact on fertility, and your fertility should return to normal shortly after discontinuing its use. While pregnancy can occur immediately after stopping the pill, it may take a few months for periods to normalise in some cases. How do birth control pills work? Contraceptive pills prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical fluid to impede sperm movement, and thinning the uterine lining to hinder egg implantation. How effective is the pill? All contraceptive pills are over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy when taken exactly as directed, but missed pills or certain actions like vomiting or diarrhoea can reduce effectiveness to about 91% in practice. What should I do if I miss a pill? If you miss a pill, take it as soon as you remember and continue with the next pill as usual. Depending on the type of pill and timing of the missed dose, additional contraception such as a condom may be necessary. Can I take antibiotics on the pill? Most antibiotics won't have an impact on the pill's effectiveness, but always inform your doctor if you're on the pill before taking antibiotics, as some can indirectly affect its efficacy.FAQs
