Short Handle Sledge Hammer

The Draper Short Handle Sledge Hammer is a robust striking tool designed for heavy-duty demolition, driving posts, and breaking up concrete or masonry. Built for professional tradespeople and serious DIY enthusiasts, this 1.8kg (4lb) sledge hammer combines traditional forged steel construction with modern fibreglass handle technology for improved durability and user comfort. The solid forged head is manufactured from fine grain high carbon steel, correctly hardened and tempered to withstand repeated high-impact use. A polished face finish ensures consistent striking performance, while a protective lacquer coating guards against rust and corrosion during storage and use on site. This combination of materials and treatment makes it suitable for demanding applications in construction, landscaping, and general demolition work. The solid fibreglass core shaft offers significant advantages over traditional wooden handles, providing exceptional strength and resistance to splitting or breaking under heavy use. A shock-absorbing rubber grip reduces vibration transfer to the user's hands, minimising fatigue during extended periods of work whilst maintaining secure control. The short handle design delivers excellent manoeuvrability in confined spaces whilst still providing sufficient leverage for effective striking force.
