About Plum

How the app works

Once set up, Plum studies income and spending and puts aside sums it judges can be spared, through tools called Auto Savers. Saved money can sit in Easy Access Savings Pockets, which are provided by Investec Bank plc. It can also go into a Cash ISA or a Lifetime ISA aimed at first-time buyers. Plum Interest is a money market fund, and like any investment it puts capital at risk.

Costs and protection

The basic features cost nothing. Premium tiers unlock extras, including better interest rates and more advanced investing, and they can be cancelled at any time. Plum is regulated by the FCA, and cash in its savings products is protected by the FSCS up to £85,000 through partner banks. Investments are different, since their value can fall as well as rise.

Getting set up

Plum is app-only, with no branches. It can be downloaded free from the App Store or Google Play, and money goes in by bank transfer or Direct Debit. Support is handled by email at [email protected]. The company is headquartered in London and also has offices in Athens and Nicosia.
