Ocushield
Ocushield, based in London, sells screen protectors, monitor filters and glasses designed to block some of the blue light that screens give off. The brand grew out of university research by optometrist Dhruvin Patel, and Ocushield Ltd was registered in England in 2014. It suits people who spend long hours on phones and laptops. UK orders over £60 ship free, and there is a money-back guarantee lasting 100 days.
About Ocushield
Screens, glasses and lighting
Tempered-glass protectors fit iPhone, Samsung and iPad models, with privacy versions and MagSafe cases too. Screen filters cover the Nintendo Switch as well as MacBooks, iMacs, other laptops and desktop monitors. Glasses come in three types: clear-lensed pairs for the day, amber-lensed pairs for evenings, and children's frames. A bamboo weighted eye mask, the Oculamp desk lamp and Ocubulb bulbs round out the range.
What the filters do
Ocushield rates its phone and tablet glass at up to 99% filtering of UV and blue light in the 300-400nm band. For 400-470nm, the figure is up to 54%. Screen colours aren't tinted orange. A protector should last around two years before wear means replacing it.
