Denim is the backbone here. Cuts cover skinny, straight-leg, flared and wide-leg shapes, and washes run from deep indigo to faded vintage blues and brighter colours. The brand now releases four collections a year, so the denim is joined by sportswear, outerwear, tops, dresses and accessories. Founders Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding both came from the denim trade, and the jeans are made in Los Angeles.

Who it suits

Mother Denim makes most sense for women who already know their preferred cut and want something softer and more characterful than high-street basics. It is a premium label, so it suits a considered purchase rather than a quick top-up. If you are between sizes, read the fit notes on each style before ordering.

Before you order

UK delivery is available, with standard orders taking 5 to 10 working days. Returns are accepted within 30 days, provided items are unworn and still carry their tags. Checkout takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay and Afterpay, and gift cards are sold too. The brand has no shops of its own, though department stores and boutiques stock its pieces. Joining its membership programme adds faster checkout and order tracking.
