How Price Comparison Works (and Why It Saves You Money)
Here's a fact retailers would rather you didn't dwell on: the exact same product — same model, same box — often sells for wildly different prices depending on where you buy it. £10, £20, sometimes £50 apart, for something identical.
Why the same thing costs different amounts
- Different margins. Each shop sets its own markup based on its costs, its customers and what it thinks it can get away with.
- Different stock positions. A shop overstocked on an item will discount it; one low on stock won't bother.
- Different sale timing. One retailer's clearance is another's full price, on the very same week.
How comparison fixes it
Price comparison lines up the shops we track that sell the same item and shows you the lowest current price. You buy the identical product — just from whoever's cheapest today. The saving is pure: same item, less money.
The honest version
Comparison only works if it's neutral. If a site ranks shops by who pays it the most, the "best price" isn't. Shopperazzi ranks by the genuine lowest price and never takes payment to bump a shop up — so the cheapest option is the one you actually see first.
