The first shop was opened in 1899 by Ernest Fishpool on an £85 loan, and the company, Fishpools Limited (Companies House 00302828), still trades from that building. It now holds a 62,000 sq ft showroom, an interior design service and a coffee shop.

- Aluminium and rattan garden furniture, sun loungers and Christmas decorations
Brands on the site include Parker Knoll, Stressless, Duresta, Calligaris, Cattelan Italia, Eichholtz and Orla Kiely, and in the bedroom Hypnos, Harrison Spinks, Silentnight, Tempur and Vispring. Fishpools describes itself as Sleep Geek certified and a member of the National Bed Federation.
Delivery and returns
Sofas, dining tables and bedroom furniture go out with the store's own delivery team from £89, placed in the room of choice with assembly where the product page says so and packaging taken away. In-house bed and mattress delivery starts at £49, smaller furniture at £39 and courier parcels at £4.95; home accessories and rugs, except rugs over 200cm, carry no delivery charge once an order passes £50. Furniture goes to mainland UK only, with third-party couriers outside the South East, and orders can be collected at no cost from the Waltham Cross store or the Hertford distribution centre.
Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt if the item is unused, unassembled and in its original packaging, and the buyer pays to bring it back to the store. Clearance lines, display models, made-to-order pieces and mattresses, toppers and pillows cannot be returned. Damage or faults must be reported within 7 days, and approved refunds are paid within 14 days.
Ways to save at Fishpools
A Budget & Outlet shop sits next to the main showroom, and the website has clearance sections for sofas, beds and home accessories, including ex-display and end-of-line pieces. The £3 car park fee can be redeemed against a purchase of £25 or more.
Sustainability at Fishpools
Fishpools says it is recognised as a Carbon Neutral Plus retailer. It collects and recycles old mattresses when delivering new ones and offers old-furniture collection through Clearabee.
