The three policies
Travel insurance comes as single trip or annual multi-trip cover, protecting against problems such as medical emergencies and lost luggage. Gadget insurance protects phones, laptops and tablets if they are lost, stolen, broken down or accidentally damaged, and replacements are like for like. Car hire excess insurance covers the excess on damage to a rental car, including tyres and windscreens, and adds breakdown recovery.

Every policy comes with BagFinder, a free service that helps recover checked-in luggage lost at airports. Travellers can also use the Doctor Please! app to speak to a UK doctor by video about minor medical issues. Returning customers are looked after through the CoverForYou Club, and policies can be managed online in the Customer Zone. Before you buy
Read the policy documents before paying, as cover limits and exclusions vary. A cooling-off period lets you cancel, usually for a full refund. That applies only if no claim has been made and no trip has started. Payment is accepted by Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and American Express. Phone lines for travel and gadget policies are staffed Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding bank holidays.
